Docetism
Docetism is the belief that God never became a man, though he appeared in human form.
"[They] will not acknowledge the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh."
c.90 CE, reported in 2 John, 7. (The beliefs of the original Docetists can only be inferred from their critics' reports, as its literature was destroyed by those over-zealous critics.)
Anthroposialism is the belief that Christ was a real man.
"The word became flesh and dwelt among us."
John 1:14, c.90 CE.
"Docetism" is from Greek dokesis ("appearance" or, as we might say, "apparition"). Docetism affirms that God's way of signaling to us is to appear.
